Final Project - Roonie Rockett and the little alien

This is an electronic book that we have put together with tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash and HTML. The storyline is based on the theme, Food. As it is targeted at children, the sub theme of healthy diet is chosen. It is a story about 2 characters, an alien and a little boy from earth. Through their interactions, they convey the message of the importance of healthy diet to the reader.

Thoughts
This project was a much looked forward one personally. this is largely because 1) its a storybook for children, and i love children too and 2) my classmates also my group mates are people whom i got along very well with.

we started conceptualizing the storyboard during the recess week, even before the theme "food" was announced. with a brainstorming session at NLB's children's section, we laid down the foundation of our storybook - such as a cheery and bright colour scheme, no absolute bad characters in the story (so that kids wont stereotype others at such young age). the rough story outline was drafted out verbally and in text as such: characters have misunderstanding, one helped another, and eventually they became friends.

subsequently, the following weeks after the theme was announced, we tweaked the main theme of the story to suit the Food them while keeping our original friendship theme as the sub theme. the subsequent progression and development of the work has been recorded in the design document =P

there is one thing that i learnt, and i felt that it was impt. i realized that when everyone in the team  does things that are of their talent and what they could do best, it could help to bring the group to a higher ground when everyone does their part well. i felt that it was the reason why our group did not have any conflicts and could deliver the storybook without too much problem and crisis :D

Class Exercise E- Weak VS Tough

i wanted to use the dots/circles to represent the weakness when facing a stronger opponent. the sharp edged, triangle shaped object represents the strong and opposing force that our weak subject faces.

on the other hand, the second corresponding picture "tough" is meant to illustrate the possibility if small circles to come together as one and eliminate the weakness. as such, the sharp force is forced back into its corner.
